The objective of indepentent testing services is to discover and anticipate any defects early on by applying estimated models and executing strategies and distinctive test techniques to discover the defects at premature levels.

A requirement for application testing services is have a mindset to check the software application by figuring out several unusual conditions as well as often termed as the third vision.

A pair of good test scenarios measures all likely permutations and combinations on the application at the time of ideal conditions. Moreover, Software Test Engineer wants the correct vision to properly test a section/full app to abide with the Standards and even the Quality. When Software Test Engineer tests an application, they need to add value in it in lieu of undertaking solely the demands conformance and agreement. An organized test process offers the value of high quality and consistency of the software application.

The most critical criteria in the application testing happen to be the problems of psychology, producing the range of guidelines to analyze software quality.

Below mentioned are few of the application testing best practices:

1. Testing is the process of exercising a software component using a chose set of test cases, together with the objective of uncovering defects and considering quality

Software Test Engineer implements the computer software by using test cases to analyze properties that include integrity, functionality, maintainability and standard of performance. Test results are recommended to assess the exact properties of the application to those specific in the specifications document as quality desired goals. Deviations or failure to obtain quality aims ought to be sorted out.

Application Testing possesses a bigger scope and not just being merely restricted to the execution of application or finding errors further rigorously as defined in the test process enhancement models for instance TMMi framework models.

2. When the testing purpose is to find defects, then a good test case is one that has a great scope of unveiling a undetected defect(s).

Concept 2 sustains an effective and refined designing of test cases. Because of this each test case need to have an aim to find a distinct form of defect. Software Test Engineer approaches the scientific approach of building the tests to prove or disapprove the theory by the means of test techniques.

3. A test case needs to have the expected end result.

Concept 3 works with the basic fact that a test case without having estimated final result is of nil value. Estimated end result establishes if a defect has been unveiled or the conditions were passed during the execution cycle.

4. Test cases should really be made for both valid plus invalid input conditions.

By using test cases which are based on inaccurate inputs is pretty valuable for discovering defects as they might possibly exercise the code in unpredicted ways along with determine unusual software program behavior. Invalid inputs likewise guide developers along with Software Test Engineers to review the robustness of the application, that is, its capability to regain when unanticipated happenings occur (in this case an wrong input).

As an illustration, software users sometimes have unawareness, or lack info related to the nature of the inputs. They normally make typographical errors although proper data is readily available. Software application may additionally deliver invalid inputs due to wrong conditions and malfunctions.

5. The probability of some other defects existing in a software component is proportional to the number of defects already detected in that component.

Guideline 5 supports the certainty that larger the amount of defects already detected in a component; the more likely it is to have extra defects when it passes through even further testing.

As an illustration, if there are two components A and B, and Software Test Engineers have observed 20 defects in A and 3 defects in B, then the possibility of the existence of extra defects in A is higher than B. This empirical statement may well be as a result of quite a few causes and degree of influence of the software variables. Defects typically happen in clusters and code that features a high tier of complexity and is inadequately designed.

6. Test Cases must be repeatable and reusable.

Concept 6 is extreme significant and takes on a crucial task promoting the fact that it truly is helpful for tests that require to be repeated after defect repair. The repetition and reuse of tests is also needed during regression test just in case a new release of the application.

7. Testing should be undertaken by a group that is independent of the development group.

This standard supports valid for psychological plus practical purposes and does not claim that it will be very unlikely for a programming enterprise to see quite a few of its errors, for the reason that firms do execute this with some amount of success. Relatively, it signifies that it is more fair for testing to be implemented by a reason, independent party that gives you a route of the third vision by the means of test cases. At last, independence of the testing crew would not call for an adversarial relationship in between developers and Software Test Engineers.

8. Test Activities must be very well planned.

Test plans have to be made for each one tier of testing, and aims for each stage have to be mentioned in the associated plan. The aims have to be acknowledged as quantitatively as possible. Plans, with their appropriate aims, are appropriate to guarantee that decent time plus resources are assigned for testing assignments, and that testing can be monitored and managed. Test planning must remain matched up with project planning. A test plan is a roadmap for the testing which should be mapped to organizational objectives and regulations related to the software application. Test risks should be assessed at each and every levels of testing.

Careful test planning reduces the risk for wasteful “throwaway” tests and unsuccessful and unexpected “test-patch-retest” cycles which usually lead to bad-quality software and the incapability to send out software program in timely manner and within budget.

9. Avoid throw-away test cases unless the program is truly a throwaway program.

Every time the application is required to be tested, the test cases need to be reinvented. In many cases, since this reinvention calls for a sizeable degree of work, Software Test Engineer has a tendency to avoid it. Thus, the retest of the application is hardly ever as severe as the main test, which implies that if the amendment causes a prior functional part of the application to fail, this error typically goes not noticed.

10. Test results should be inspected carefully.

This is most likely the obvious concept, but once again it is sometimes unseen. We’ve experienced many tests that reveal many subjects failed to find several errors, although symptoms of those errors happen to be evidently visible on the output listings. To explain, errors which are observed on later tests are normally neglected in the results from previous tests.

For example,

I. A failure may very well be neglected, and the test may be provided a “PASS” status when in fact the software programs have failed the test. Testing may continue based on invalid test results. The defect may be disclosed at later level of testing, nevertheless then it may be too costly and troublesome to discover and repair.

II. A failure may be suspected when really none exists. In cases like this the test may be issued a “FAIL” status. Significant time and effort may be used up on trying to look for the defect that doesn’t really exist. A attentive re-checking of the test results could at last suggest that no failure has appeared.

Technology is always advancing which basically means that even before a concept takes hold in the people, a latest technology is on its way to eradicate it. This new technology can come in the form of new software or even new platforms as is obvious with the way that mobile phone app technology has taken hold of the entire world. Unfortunately, although the idea of mobile application development has grown to be important for many companies and regions of the world, there are still portions of the public which are not aware of either the fundamentals or even the benefits of mobile application development technology.

Mobile application development is a method from which highly qualified specialists develop or generate new apps and software particularly for smaller sized gadgets like mobile communications devices. In other words, mobile application development is a procedure from which a experienced expert creates an apps for a precise goal which can be utilized in smart phones, personalized electronic assistants and other variants of the similar concept.

The easy cause for such an important growth of mobile application development is the fact that technological progress has resulted in the miniaturization of basic tools in people’s hands i. e. instead of computers, people have initiated depending on smart phones like iPhones, Blackberrys etc. Furthermore, this reliance has been further pointed out by the existence of highly specialized and targeted tools known as enterprise digital assistants. As a matter of fact, the modern day cellular phone has evolved from being a communication device of the past and has essentially changed into a pocket source for key information, whether the target is awareness or entertainment. Due to this, the requirements for specialized programs are that can be used in these gadgets for specific tasks have risen.

The mobile software development sector can be broadly identified on the basis of the platforms on which the industry experts work on. There are predominately four different platforms that are in use presently like Blackberry, iPhone, Android and Windows. Of these, the one with a lot of potential, as per analysts, is the iPhone platform. The good reason why the iPhone mobile application development platform is regarded as the future of the Mobile Smartphone application market is simply because iPhones have fairly quickly snapped up the smartphone markets worldwide and iPhone Apps services are expected to increase on their market share. Remarkably, this pattern is noticeable by the information revealed by Apple not too long ago (2011 Q2) which put its worldwide sale at around 18.65 million units and this did not include the sales figures of iPad units.

As the sales of iPhones and iPads have increased, the demand for apps for the platform has also grown up. This has directly resulted in the growth of the iPhone mobile application development market. Moreover, since this growth is expected to sustain itself, the future looks very positive for the growth patterns of the iPhone mobile application development market as well. Effectively, it can be said that while the mobile smartphone application development industry is growing, this growth is chiefly being driven by the unrivaled success of the iPhone apps development market.

In the early part of the 20th century, rapid industrialization of Western countries provided the need for a readily available and more importantly highly skilled workforce that would be able to support the progress and innovation in the workplace. Businesses focuses on in house recruitment to fill these positions.

The latter part of the 20th century and into the beginning of the 21st saw an increased need in specialized and technical skills in the workplace. These skills normally found in western countries were now being found in quantity in developing economies such as India and China.

The software industry is one area where this is abundantly clear. It has led to a growing acceptance of software development via outsourcing. Outsourcing can be done anywhere it does not necessarily have to be done out of country. There are often viable in country options as well.

The first step is to understand what outsourcing is, outsourcing is the term used by businesses when they purchase the services of an external party to handle projects or functions normally handled internally. The advantages of outsourcing are numerous. Cost is obviously the first advantage. When outsourcing the business looking for the service negotiates with the business providing the service over the total cost of the project. Since this is often paid in a lump sum, it may seem like a large sum however, in comparison it is generally less than what would be spent to do the project in house. You have to compare the outsourced expense with the expense of obtaining, training and paying a team in house especially if that team is no longer necessary once the project ends.

The second advantage is that in a single step outsourcing provides you with an entire team of experts in the field which would otherwise be hard to find and expensive to acquire as full time staff. This is especially true of software development since it requires highly skilled individuals. The cost in terms of time, energy and money to train them may not earn a positive return in the long run.

Additionally, many businesses change technology on a regular basis. Keeping an in house team means constantly upgrading the skills of that team which can be expensive. Another thing to consider is the fact that highly skilled positions such as those found in software development generally have a high turnover rate. This can cause a gap in the skill set of your business as well as a lack of continuity when it comes to knowledge. This problem does not exist generally when outsourcing.

When outsourcing you have the benefit of knowing, the team is already available to start your project immediately. There is an additional benefit when outsourcing. Most companies who provided outsourced services have several staff members with the same skill set. This means that there are no skill gaps or lack of continuity if a staff member leaves. It reduces the overall time necessary to complete a project.

Project management also needs to be considered when dealing with software development. When outsourcing a software development project consider the experience of the company. Experienced companies provide tried and true methods of project management that ensure that your project meets its deadlines and budget.

Definitions of the term Web 2.0 and its practical implementation.

The term Web 2.0 suggests a new version of the World Wide Web. It does not refer to an update to Web technical specifications, but tochanges in the ways Internet is used.

To take it in the right spirit, the conversion of websites from knowledge sources to knowledge sharing platform is all about the next generation of WWW i.e. Web2.0. Wiki sites, social networking sites, web-tops, blogs, forums, RSS/Atom feeds, folksonomies (cloud or tags on content) are just doing the same. Now we can not just take information from the sites but can change the original information or data and add more about any specific topic. Some of the most common Web 2.0 sites are Wikipedia, eBay, Amazon, imdb, Orkut, Blogger, Yahoo!360, My Space, and several others. User reviews, blog or article comments and discussion forums also comes under Web 2.0

All in all Web 2.0 is not about any new technology but the implementation of the existing technology in a more innovative way so that Internet can work more than just knowledge base but will work as a plate form for knowledge exchange. The Web 2.0 can also be referred as a revolutionary move as the data or information is now being collected, updated, voiced and shared by the people and for the people. It may be called democratization of the web.

The visible changes which can be seen in the current patterns of web utilization start from ratings and public opinion polls. Second major change comes as SharePoint from Microsoft is taking preference as the Intranet for most of the companies. Now you can take part and voice your opinion in forms of comments, polls, ratings, blogs and wiki. The trust on the users or visitors is the key here. Though, the moderations are still there.

On a second thought, if you are looking for some information, the first thing you will do will be the Google. Here the search engine optimization of the site is more important then the URL itself. It gives the content writer the freedom to write and provide the information wherever and whatever he/she wants.

The Platform approach also gives a new way to service based sites than packaged software. Just as the Web 2.0 is about the innovation in the utilization of the web, the technology which makes it strong is also not new but restructure of the much popular old technologies. Ajax is one of the best examples for the purpose. A restructure or a new, cleverer use of Java Script and XML makes the whole Ajax more users friendly and powerful. Also the standard XHTML also brings in the new more neat and supportive base for Ajax to be crawled upon.

As O’Reilly said, “Web 2.0 is the business revolution in the computer industry caused by the move to the Internet as platform, and an attempt to understand the rules for success on that new platform.”

More often than not, when it comes to website development and design, business owners or people responsible who decide to use the medium to build upon their business, ignore the fact that the website they are planning to set up is actually one of the most prominent properties of their business and it is being built for the visitors not the managers of the company.

Having stated that, imagining raised eyebrows from everyone reading it, which includes you, I suggest detaching from the current role you might be playing at your office and reading the statement above one more time.

For every website, the visitor is the first and last factor to be considered. Everything comes secondary.

As the old saying goes, Wise people say when they have something to say, fool people say because they have to say something.

Problem One: When the decision to build a website is taken, the first thing comes to mind is how it will look like and content comes secondary.

Problem Two: The decision comes at a time where it is just a matter of days when a certain deadline for an event or a conference or a product launch is on cards, which leaves the content and quality on back seat. ‘The site must go live tomorrow, no matter if the team works till midnight’, they say.

The importance of a website is more than the wrong reasons like just because we have printed a URL on the print or it is cool to have a website for even a small business or everyone has got one, why not us. This is what makes the internet full of waste data and websites, which practically provide no inputs to an intellectual human being online trying to gain the information or knowledge he/she may be looking for.

So first thing first, have a website, when you actually have something to say. Prepare the content inventory for all the things about your business. Make sure you cover all the factors of business as much as you can think of. Understand that the content inventory you have prepared is the first draft of what will expend many folds over the time and by the hands of professional writer when involved and go live.

Second, decide the kind of branding and segment you wish to target, in writing. The objectives of any business are always stays with the business team. The third part you are going to hire for a month may not understand the objectivities of the exercise as you for them may be another client willing to own a website for a business, which is none of their business.

Done! Now, this is the time when you will be moving with the Design agency or the team. Answer all the questions they come up with. It may be time taking, repetitive, often off the mark and may seem alien but try and answer. If you feel it’s too-tech-for-me ask them to simplify what is that they are asking for.

Now, it is time when you will get your fist site map and wireframe diagram of the site, designed by their Usability Analyst based on the requirements and information provided by you. This is where the whole scope, target, brand value and future of the investment done by you depend. A close study of matters here will guide the entire project in the right direction. Ask for detailed report and points considered before the designs structure. If it makes sense, fine, or move with the inputs which you feel are required. If all reasoned well, we are up for a graphic design.

Meanwhile, based on the site map, tie the loose ends left in the content side. SEO team can now move to create the structure of the project.

To point it in the direction of process, we are 50 percent done here as the scope, design, structure and content are fixed.

This way, not just the creators but the business also gets a better understanding of the website and vice versa. The site learns to speak the language of the business it is designed for. The process which moves from this point onwards is what everyone is aware of. Get the graphic, do the coding, add the functionalities of Web 2.0, add CMS and do the SEO.

A website, with roots deeper into the planning and conceptualization phase, has more meat and stamina to business success than one can imagine. It lasts longer, critical updates come less frequently, features to be developed are pre decided, making it easier to estimate and proves to be cost effective.

FINALLY, a word of caution, many of us just want the site to go live on a given date with whatever is ready. Try to avoid this idea, as it is evident that when the first phase is over and site is live, the interest of everyone backing the project is lost. Well, almost.

Plan the website the way you plan your business. It is not just an add-on to your business, but another business you own.
